Global Sourcing & Supply (GSS) is a division of BMMI, set up to provide facilities management and logistics to some of the world’s largest mineral operations operating in several countries across Africa. Vision Gulf created the brand, also writing and designing its marketing collateral.
GSS operates in Mali, Gabon, Ghana, South Sudan and Kenya with other country operations being developed. It offers remote site facility management, creating mining camps and supplying all staff, catering and logistics to inaccessible areas. In Africa, where there are minerals there is also conflict and GSS operates in ‘sometimes difficult’ situations. The operation relies on transhipping through BMMI’s hub in Djibouti through Ethiopia, south to Sudan and its Kenya office handles logistics from the port of Mombasa, north through Uganda, to the mineral belts of the interior. Clients include global operations such as Newmont Mining.
As part of its mandate, GSS runs BMMI’s ‘Think Local’ CSR initiative at a local level in each country, supporting orphanages and leading self-sufficiency initiatives such as helping local hitherto subsistence farmers to increase crop yields and sell to GSS for supply to remote site facilities. It operates to a group-wide, certified, Quality Management System.
